DocsConnect your tools

How connecting tools works

Where you connect tools, what read-only means, who can connect, and how to fix, disconnect or reconnect a tool.

Explanation · Last updated 27 October 2026

On this page

Eric learns most from his own tracking code on your website. Connecting the tools you already use lets him go further: count real sales instead of clicks, follow a lead past the form, and see what your ads cost.

Every connection is optional. You can connect tools while you sign up, or at any time later.

Where to connect

In Eric, open Connections from the menu on the left, under Setup. The page is called Let's get me connected. and lists the steps in order:

StepTools you can pick
Connect your websiteEric's tracking code. See Add the tracking code.
Connect your revenueStripe, Shopify, Send me a webhook
Connect your adsGoogle Ads, Meta Ads
Connect your CRMHighLevel, HubSpot, Salesforce
Connect your analyticsGoogle Analytics, Google Search Console
Connect your calendarCalendly
Connect your communication channelSlack, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp
Note: If you don't see the Connect your ads step, connecting ad accounts isn't switched on for your account yet.

Each step shows a status: Connected, Needs reconnecting, Needs attention, Detected, Finishing…, Checking…, Couldn't check or Not connected. Click a step to open it and see each tool in it.

If Eric spots a tool in your website's code, he says so, for example: "Looks like you use HubSpot. I'm not certain — connect it and I'll know."

Read-only access

For your analytics, ads, CRM, payment and calendar tools, Eric only reads. He does not create, edit or delete anything in them. On the setup screen this is put as: "Read-only. Eric never changes anything without your approval."

Shopify is the one exception, because it is also how Eric's tracking code gets onto a Shopify store. See Shopify.

Who can connect a tool

The owner of the business and anyone who Can change things can connect, fix or disconnect a tool. Someone who Can only look sees the list but gets: "You can only look at this business. Ask an owner to connect it." See Invite people and choose what they can do.

Connections belong to one business

A connection belongs to the business you are looking at. If you have more than one business, Eric tells you when a tool is connected on another one: "HubSpot is connected on Other Business, not on this business. Connect it here too if you want it for this one."

When a tool needs your attention

A tool can be connected and still give Eric nothing. Its step then shows Needs attention or Needs reconnecting, and the tool shows the reason and one button:

ButtonWhenWhat it does
Choose property, Choose site, Choose ad account or Choose locationEric needs one more answer.Opens a box where you pick the right one.
ReconnectThe tool stopped accepting Eric's login, for example after a password change.Takes you to sign in again with the same login.
Use a different loginThe login can't give Eric what he needs, for example a HighLevel agency login or a Google login that sees no property.Asks you to confirm, disconnects the tool (deleting what was read from it), then takes you to sign in with another login.

On the setup screen you saw when you signed up, the card shows Fix. Click it and the same button appears beside the tool.

Disconnect a tool

  1. Open Connections from the menu on the left, under Setup.
  2. Click the step the tool is in, for example Connect your CRM.
  3. Click Disconnect next to the tool. Eric says what will happen. Click Disconnect again to confirm, or Keep it.

Disconnecting stops Eric reading the tool and withdraws the access you gave. For analytics, Search Console, CRM, ads and calendar tools, it also deletes what Eric had already read. Stripe is different: the sales Eric has counted stay.

Two tools disconnect their own way: Shopify uninstalls Eric's app from your store (see Shopify), and Send me a webhook switches your sales address off (see Send me a webhook).

Note: The setup screen has no Disconnect button on purpose. Use Connections from the menu to disconnect.

Reconnect a tool

  • If a tool stopped working, its step shows Needs reconnecting and the tool shows Reconnect. Click it and sign in again.
  • If you connected the wrong account, click Use a different login, or Disconnect and connect again.
  • A connection that never finished shows "That connection didn't finish." with Try again.
  • A connection Eric has lost shows Reconnect and Disconnect, so you can also let it go.
