Google Ads
Connect Google Ads so Eric can set what you spend next to what happens on your site.
How-to guide · Last updated 27 October 2026
Eric reads campaign spend from one Google Ads account, once a day. He does not change campaigns, budgets or bids.
Before you start
- Find your ten-digit Customer ID. It is at the top right of Google Ads, shown like
123-456-7890. - Use the ID of the account that actually runs the ads. A manager account runs no campaigns of its own, so it has no spend to read.
Connect Google Ads
- Sign in to Eric. You need to be the owner of the business, or someone who Can change things.
- Open Connections from the menu on the left.
- Click the Connect your ads row, then the Connect your ads button inside it.
- Pick Google Ads from the list.
- Your browser goes to a secure connection page and then to Google Ads's own sign-in. Sign in and approve read access.
- You come back to Connections. Eric tells you what he can now read, or asks you one question to finish.
The connection page asks for your Customer ID. Dashes are fine. After you come back, a box asks Which Google Ads account is yours? Paste the same ten-digit ID and click Use this account.
Common messages
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "That's a manager account — it runs no campaigns of its own…" | In Google Ads, pick the account that runs the ads from the account list at the top left, and use its ID. |
| "Google says this login can't read that account." | Check the ID, or click Use a different login and sign in with the Google login that manages the account. |
| "That doesn't look like a Google Ads customer id." | Use the ten-digit number from the top right of Google Ads. |
Disconnect or reconnect Google Ads
- Open Connections from the menu on the left (under Setup).
- Click the Connect your ads row to open it. Google Ads is listed with its status.
- Click Disconnect next to Google Ads. Eric says what will happen; click Disconnect again to confirm, or Keep it.
- To connect again, click Add another (or Connect your ads if nothing else is connected there) and pick Google Ads.
Important: Disconnecting Google Ads stops Eric reading it and deletes what he had already read from it. Connecting again reads the history again from the start.
