Businesses and websites

When to add a website to your business and when to start a separate business, and how to manage each website.

On this page

A business in Eric is one brand or company. It can have several websites: your main site, a checkout or booking site on another domain, landing pages, or a funnel on a shared host. Eric learns across everything in one business: its sites, its checkout and its ads.

A checkout, booking site or funnel for the same businessAdd it as a website of your business.
A separate brand with its own customersAdd a separate business.

Add a website

  1. Open Metrics → Journey (or Your websites in the account menu at the top right) and click Add a website.
  2. Type the Address, for example shop.yourbusiness.com or funnelhost.com/your-funnel.
  3. Under What is it? choose Main site, Checkout, Booking, Landing pages, A funnel on a shared host or Other.
  4. Click Add it.

The tracking code you already have works on the new website; put it on that website's pages too. A main site, landing pages or a funnel gets its own journey and findings. A checkout, booking site or other site joins the main site's journey.

A website another account already uses

If another account already verified the address, you can still analyse it, but its owner's data stays private to them. If it's yours, click Ask the business that has … to let me in.

Manage a website

On Metrics → Journey, click Manage to open Your websites. For each website:

  • Make main sets which website is your main site.
  • Check for changes: Once a day (included), Every hour (uses credits each day), or Not at all.
  • Its own morning report gives one website its own morning note. It uses credits each morning it is sent.
  • Suggested addresses: if Eric's code reports from pages you haven't added, he lists them. Click It's mine to start counting them.

Stop collecting from a website

Click Stop, then Stop collecting. Everything already recorded stays in your reports, and its journey is kept. From then on nothing new from that website is counted. To undo, find it under No longer collecting and click Start again.

Add a separate business

  1. Click your email at the top right, then Add a business (or Add another business on Your account).
  2. Give Eric the new website and follow the same steps as the Quickstart.

If one of your businesses has no website yet, add one to it or delete it first. To move between businesses, click your email at the top right and choose Switch business, or open All your businesses.
